The Man..The Music..The Madness..The Murder..The Motion Picture.
Antonio Salieri - now confinedito an insane asylum.
Amadeus triumphs as gripping human drama, sumptuous period epic, glorious celebration of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart--& as the winner of eight 1984 Academy Awards, including Best Picture (produced by Saul Zaentz), Actor (F. Murray Abraham), Director (Milos Forman) & Adapted Screenplay (peter Shaffer).
It's 1781 & Antonio Saliere (Abraham) is the competent court composer to Emperor Joseph II. When Mozart (Oscar nominee Tom Hulce) arrives at court, Salieri is horrified to discover that the godlike musical gifts he desires for himself have been bestowed on a bawdy, impish jokester. Mad with envy, he plots to destroy Mozart by any means. Perhaps even murder.

Bio pic of the greatest composer of all times - 4.5 out of 5 (12/10/2001)
The world has always been fascinated with genius. Those gifted individuals that stand so far above the crowd that we all are in awe, mixed with a good helping of jealousy. Films that depict a genius with all his flaws has a leg up, it brings the exalted somewhat down to earth. This is the case with Amadeus. This Milos Forman docu-drama shows this legendary musician contrasting the perfection of his art with the madness of his person. The film focuses on the aged recollections of Antonio Salieri

Excellent Best Picture Winner of 1984. - 4.5 out of 5 (1/25/2003)
This is, easily, one of the best movies ever made. I am glad to own this movie, because it won the Best Picture Oscar for 1984. And, if you haven't seen it, you should. An excellent film.

TURNING OVER THIS DVD RUINS THE EXPERIENCE - 4 out of 5 (10/27/2000)
This is an incredible film and I planned on making it one of the first DVDs in my collection. Unfortunately, I was disappointed you have to manually flip over the disc midway through the film. I hope that Warner will someday come to its senses and rerelease Amadeus in the proper DVD format where audiences can enjoy it uninterrupted.

Hitting the Right Note - 4.25 out of 5 (1/25/1999)
A fine transfer of a generally excellent film. Hulce's performance may be a mannered for some but it lacks nothing in charisma. The music and costumes and F Murray Abraham's performance carry all before them.
